Today we are taking look at the very foundation of music which is the piano note names and finger numbers.

Piano Notes Names and Finger Numbers

Piano Note Names

When you take a look at the piano you will notice that there are groups of two black keys and groups of three black keys on the piano. These group of black keys alternate and repeat on the piano. So the black keys are a good marker for learning your note names on the piano.

When we take a look at the group of two black you will see the right white key to the left of the two black is called “C”. In the middle of the two black you will find the white key “D”. At the left of the two black you will find white key called “E”.

Now when you take a look at the three black you will see the musical scale continue on the white keys. To the left of the three black is “F” and then “G”. After G we start our musical alphabet again and go to “A”. At the right of the three black you will find the final white key named “B”.

The musical alphabet repeats the same pattern throughout the piano.

C D E F G A B

Finger Numbers

The finger numbers are very crucial to learning the piano. This is because you need to know which finger needs to be played on which piano key.
